The Senior Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Eternal Praise, Lagos, Pastor Olu Olorunpomi has stated that there is no way storms can be avoided in Christian homes
He said this is as a result of the human nature/setting, prevalent wars between good and evil or between light and darkness, and a reminder of eternity past and hope for eternity future.
Pastor Olorunpomi stated this while ministering on the theme "Storms in Marriages" at the annual Easter Family Picnic tagged Home on the Rock (Season 3) organized by The Apostolic Church, Itele Assembly, off Maya Ikorodu Lagos.
The Cleric noted that the storms have levels of strength depending on the contributing forces, velocity and on availability of breakers.
"Storms are dangerous, deadly and destructive. Storms take time to gather. Storms throw things up and against one another. Storms create fear in people. Storms turn people hostile," he noted.
While speaking on the examples of storm against Christian marriages, Pastor Olorunpomi said that when your mind works against your marriage, you have lost it, saying that no or less conviction, wrong start can lead to unwholesome thoughts, advising couples to guard their hearts.
According to him, examples of other storms against marriages are delay in childbearing, diseases/Sickness, money matters, third parties, fortune, culture and tradition,disagreements/Difference, disappointments, secrets, apostasy, spiritual Attacks and sex matters.
The fear of storms according to him enhances destruction by storm (Job 3:25,cf; II Tim. 1:7) and running away from storms can cause you to perish in the storm.
He said that:"solution to storms against Christian marriages can be considered in two dimensions. Strong foundation: the house sits well on the ROCK called God. He’s the one Who built heaven, earth, rocks, sky, trees, etc. How much God have you? Veritable Pillars: stand strong, immovable!."
The Cleric said to have a lasting to storms in marriages, couples must not only just know about God; but know God (Daniel 11:32).
He further stated that the Word, Faith, Wisdom, Understanding, Love, the Secret Place (personal, couple and family altars), memories (always remember how you started), forgiveness, Commitment, (till death do us part), consciousness of legacy/influence, Communication (clarity is essential) and association/Mentoring are other solutions to marriage storms.
