Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the President of
Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, Pastor Abraham O. Akinosun has said
politicians should restrain themselves from making empty promises.
Pastor Akinosun noted this in his New Year message published
in Guardian Newspaper entitled; “Hope For The Best, Pour Out Your Heart to God.”
The President also said that politicians should earn the
votes of the people rather than getting it through rigging and ballot snatching,
urging them to desist from using thugs nor see the election as a do-or-die
exercise.
“Election is not war. There is no need to build up arms over
the election. There will always be another chance to win election if the battle
is lost this time around. Whoever among them wins the election should embrace
the losers and collectively find solutions to the nation’s ill,” he stated.
Pastor Akinosun urged Nigerians to have positive views about
the country, praying that Nigeria will be healed of all its political, social and
economic malaise in Jesus’ name.
The Cleric urged Nigerians to confidently exercise their franchise
during the election and forget the negative view that their votes will not
count.
“Believe that God will use your vote to enthrone the man
after His heart to govern this nation. Just do what is right, don’t vote for
money, don’t vote for any inducement by any politician, just vote according to
your conscience. I assure you, it will be well with you,” he said.
