INTERVIEW: Annual Showers of Blessings programme has enjoyed God's faithfulness over the years- Pastor Oladokun

The annual Showers of Blessings programme of Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Iyanu, Itire Districts Coordinating Council (DCC), Itire Lagos, will on July 1st, 2019. The DCC Superintendent of Itire DCC, Pastor Gideon O. Oladokun in this interview speaks with CAC NEWS on the plan for this year's edition.




Tell us briefly about the annual Showers of Blessings programme


The annual Showers of Blessings is a programme specially organised by Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Iyanu, Itire DCC headquarters. It is an annual 7 weeks prayer programme where the God of Ayo Babalola has done uncountable signs and wonders since its inception. The programme on yearly always starts with Pre-showers of Blessing programme which is presently ongoing and will end on Friday June 28, 2019.

Showers of Blessings starts on Monday July 1st, 2019 and holds on Monday and Tuesday of every week for seven weeks. The grand finale which is a one week programme holds from 12th to 17th of August, 2019. The DCC Superintendent of Osogbo DCC, Pastor Gideon Obiwale is the invited minister.


What is the theme of this year’s Showers of Blessing?

The theme for this year’s edition is “Storm, Be Still.”

Why the theme “Storm, Be Still”?

God told me when I was praying that there are degrees of storms in the life of people. During the New Year eve God told me this year is going to be stormy for Nigeria and that we should be praying. In order to deal with that, God gave me this theme when I was praying.


What is a storm in the life of any believer?

Anything that is capable of depriving one of peace and tranquillity is a storm and it may come in any form. Barrenness represents storm in the life of somebody who has been seeking the face of God for the fruit of the womb. Somebody who is not in peace or in trouble is passing through storm.


Who are the invited guests for the programme?

For the ongoing pre-showers of blessing, we have invited Evang. J.O. Adeniji from Ilorin and Pastor Olokooba from Osogbo. For the Pre-Showers of Blessings programme we have invited Pastor Yerokun from Ilorin, Prophet Seun Babalola from Lagos, Pastor Samuel Alo from Lagos, Pastor Adekola Testimony and Pastor Joel Ajibola. The grand finale will be a week programme and Prophet Gideon Obiwale will minister by God’s grace.


What should be the expectation of those who are looking forward to attend the programme?

Since the year the programme has started, God has been faithful to people. In the previous editions, people gave testimonies of what God did in their lives. People who are hoping to attend the programme should expect to receive their miracles. Whatever the degree of storm in their lives, they should expect that it will stop. Jesus will be there to speak to their storm.


Is the programme only for members of the church or outsiders are welcome?

So many outsiders or non members of the church have attended the programme over the years. The programme is for everybody.


These days, prayer programmes are being organised by churches on weekly basis and majority of those programmes are not meeting up with the expectations of people compared to the days of father of faith. What do you think is wrong?

It depends on the motive behind the planning of such programmes. If the motive is wrong, nothing will be done, but if the motive is right, God is always among His people. We thank God for always manifesting Himself in our programmes in Christ Apostolic Church, not only in Itire DCC. We thank God for the life of the General Evangelist of CAC Worldwide, Prophet Hezekiah O. Oladeji. He has been holding programmes which have been blessing lives. Presently he is in Erio Mountain for the annual Apostle Babalola Power Explosion programme where there are always signs and wonders. 


There are a lot of people these days who attend prayer programme purposely because of the invited Minister. What is your opinion on this?

People because of their lack of maturity don’t know that God can use anybody for His work or to perform signs and wonders. The vessel maybe young, middle age or old, God can use anybody, but our people love to attend programmes where popular ministers are invited. If a minister of God whom God has been using mightily is holding a programme or in invited to a particular church, some will attend the programme purposely because of what they have heard about him.

However, children of God should be ready to be blessed in any programme irrespective of the invited minister.


What do you think is responsible for the proliferation of fake Prophets and prophecies these days?

Proliferation of fake prophets and prophecies is end time phenomenon. The Bible has said that in the later days false prophets will increase and anywhere you see genuine minister of God, there must be fake. Jesus has warned us to beware of them and has given us signs to discern them.


Considering the present state of the country, what is your advice for President Muhammadu Buhari?

We love our President, but he needs to take a drastic step concerning insecurity in the country, most especially now that foreign investors are losing interest in our country. We need to quickly address it. Though, recently I read that he said that in few months he will do something about it. I hope he will do it so that the nation will be at peace because presently travellers are not sure of adequate security while travelling, which is bad. It was never like that. It is like the country is getting worse and I pray that this country will not collapse in Jesus’ name.
