Christ Apostolic Church, Chapel of Praise, Akure recently held 2019 edition of her annual programme tagged "Service of Songs"
Service of Songs is Chapel of Praise's name for what is popularly known as Choir anniversary. The 2019 edition was held on 29th September, 2019 with the theme: Walking and Working in Absolute Faith.
While delivering his welcome address, the choirmaster, Elder Olufunmilayo Joseph said faith cannot be absolute without a walk with God.
He welcomed all members to the special programme and urged everyone to be attentive in order to hear the words of the songs.
The programme featured performance of songs by the choir, Presentation of songs by the family singer of the year (Engr. Dr. and Mrs Tunde Soyoye), songs and saxophone concerto by the junior choir, presentation of awards to four outstanding choristers where the overall best chorister emerged as Sister Mary Olayinka, a superb alto singer and praise&worship leader who single handedly chose the opening and closing hymns for all Sunday services of the year and ensured that no hymn is repeated twice.
Few of the songs arranged and composed by the late Music Director for Odunbajo region of C.A.C, Pastor 'Deola Amudipe were also rendered in honour of him and as a reminder to the church that there will be no hiding place at the throne of judgment.
During the exhortation, the senior Pastor, Prof. Sam B. Adejuyigbe pontificated that walking with God is the first step before working for God, noting that an attempt to work for God without walking with him will amount to efforts in futility.
