Christ Apostolic Church, Ajeromi Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), Lagos, has held send-forth and retirement service for her outgoing DCC Superintendent, Pastor Amos Olushola Abiye Olorunpomi.
Pastor Olorunpomi is taking a bow after 51 years of active and fruitful ministry.
The Send-forth and Retirement Service was in conjunction with his 75th birthday celebration was held Saturday December 21, 2019. The service was held at CAC Ajeromi DCC headquarters, Ajegunle-Apapa, Lagos.
Pastor Olorunpomi born on April 2, 1944. His mother had suffered successive still births until she joined Christ Apostolic Church. She attended a revival meeting with Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola ministering while she was heavily pregnant of the one who was going to be her first surviving son. Hence, the name ABIYE was given the son who was born not long after she returned from the crusade.
After his primary education, Pastor Olorunpomi worked and trained under a Canadian Tutor at St Augustine’s College based in Kabba from 1963 to 1968. On receiving divine call into ministry, he left Kabba for Iyamoye. As it was in those days, he served ministerial tutelage under late Pastor J.A Medaiyese (2nd General Superintendent of CAC) in 1969, who transferred him to Late Pastor J. Olu Young under whose tutelage the young Olorunpomi qualified to practice as a Catechist in CAC.
He was issued a Worker’s Certificate duly signed by late Pastors J.O Aoko (Secretary, Central Area), S.S Michael, (District Superintendent) and J.B Orogun (AGS) dated 10th August 1972.
With his mother and siblings, they pioneered CAC Iyamoye Assembly amidst turbulence, troubles, trials, temptations and in the theatre of operations of the kingdom of darkness. In the process of that assignment, he was sent to Araromi-Gbede to work on planting a new CAC Assembly. It was in the village that he would meet the damsel who became his wife of over forty-five years.
July 7, 1972 marked the beginning of the loving union between Cathechist Amos Olushola Olorunpomi and Miss Grace Oladunni Adewunmi. The two became one in Holy Matrimony officiated by Pastor S.S Micah at CAC Ikoyi-Ijumu. The ministerial journey that has been blessing countless lives till today started in the simplest form and to the glory of God.
He continued with the church planting assignment at Christ Apostolic Church Iyamoye-Ijumu till 1979.
In the course of the time, Cathechist Amos Olushola Olorunpomi was sent to revive a Christ Apostolic Church Assembly in Ekirin-Adde, thereby making three assemblies simultaneously under his supervision from 1971-1979.
Pastor Olorunpomi worked as Curate Cathechist in Christ Apostolic Church, Iyara Ijumu District Headquarters, Iyara-Ijumu Kogi State between 1979 and1982, and Cathechist, Christ Apostolic Church, Ayetoro-Gbede, Kogi State from 1982 to 1986.
The living legend had his pre-pastoral ordination training (that led to the award of Diploma in Theology 1986-1988) at Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary.
The cleric was the Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Egbeda-Egga, Kogi State from 1986 to1990 and Christ Apostolic Church, Ayetoro-Gbede, Kogi State from 1990 to1993.
He was the Curate Pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Temidire District Headquarters, Bariga, Lagos from 1993 to1995 and after then he was transferred to Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Ibukun Araromi, Ikorodu, Lagos (now Amazing Grace Zonal Headquarters) from 1995 to 2005. There he was promoted District Superintendent.
The Authority of CAC Worldwide transferred him to Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Anu Oworonshoki, Lagos where he spent two years from 2006-2008.
He was then transferred and promoted to Zonal Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church Eleyele Zone, Ile-Ife, Osun State from 2008 to 2013.
Pastor Olorunpomi was promoted as DCC Superintendent and transferred to Christ Apostolic Church Ajeromi DCC, Lagos in 2014 where he served till retirement.
He visited Israel in December 2016 for Holy Pilgrimage.
Over the years, the Lord has blessed him with children, grandchildren, with testimonies and proofs of the rewards for serving God faithfully and diligently. With a fair share of challenges of life and ministry, his life has proved that victory is assured in Christ.
According to the DCC secretary, Pstor Abel Olu Ojo, Pastor Olorunpomi worked assiduously to build on the sucess achieved by his predecessors. He is well known for his total obedience to the Lord his Master and the CAC authority. Within his service years in Ajeromi DCC between 2015 till date some laudable achievements were recorded.
In his message, Pastor Olorunpomi noted that he started ministry 51 years ago at the age of 24. He also appreciated everyone who came to celebrate with him.
In appreciation of his fatherly care and labour, his biological children presented a car to him as gift.
