The day Pastor Olukunle was laid to rest

In honour of the late icon, Music Director of CAC Worldwide, Pastor Tope Dada about putting a flower on the coffin of Pastor Olukunle

It was a day of celebrating an icon who left an indelible landmark that cannot be left out of the history of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, when the pioneer Music Director of the mission was laid to rest.



Pastor Olukunle was laid to rest on Friday 7th February, 2020 at his residence, 53, Alugbo Zone, Akoomeji, Amuloko, Ibadan.



Musicologists in the mission led by the incumbent Music Director, Pastor Tope Dada, Assistant Music Director, Pastor Paul Bankole, Regional Choir Coordinator of Babalola Region, Elder E.F. Ilori and many others were in attendance to honour the legend.


At exactly 11am, the auditorium was almost filled to the brim for the outing service which started few minutes after the interment at CAC General Secretariat, Basorun, Ibadan.



Notable faces in attendance are the Principal Officers of CAC Worldwide, Regional Superintendent of Babalola Region, Pastor J.O. Ogunwuyi and DCC Superintendent of Yaba DCC Pastor S.E.A. Oludare among others.




While ministering at the programme, the Regional Superintendent of Babalola Region, Pastor Ogunwuyi said Pastor Olukunle was a faithful servant of God, noting that his achievements could not have been accomplished by human strength, but through the help of the Holy Spirit.



He noted that these days many claim to be born again, but the signs of being born again can't be seen in them.



Pastor Ogunwuyi said everyone should swallow his or her pride like Nicodemus and come to Christ.



Pastor Olukunle was the one God used to arrange CAC Hymn Book in English, Hausa, Igbo and Isoko.



The legend worked on CAC hymns for the church and has arranged the English, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and Isoko Hymns versions. He also arranged tunes in staff-notation and tonic solfa for easy reference of those hymns. He was a translator by talent.


He wrote many books such as Ministers' Guide, Notes from the Bible, 100 Bible Lessons, Collections of Hymns With Similar Tunes in English and Yoruba.


He was given Award of Excellence for his immeasurable contributions to music in CAC by the Directorate of Music, CAC Worldwide at the 2019 Music Ministers' Conference.
