As many countries across the globe imposed lockdown in order to curtail the spread of corona virus, the DCC Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Oniyo Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), Ekiti State, Pastor G. Olu Akeju has said that Jesus Christ at any time didn't promise us a complete trouble free life.
He however said that there is an assurance of victory for every trouble that comes our way, stating that the Bible says "in the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Pastor Akeju stated this while ministering on Sunday April 5, 2020 on the topic "Christians in Time of Trouble" which was live streamed on his official Facebook page.
The Cleric said as Christians we will face trouble, but there is an assurance that we will definitely overcome.
While quoting Isaiah chapter 43 verse 2 which says "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you," he said the promise is only for children of God, not those who are in the world.
He also said that this is not the time to cast blames on anybody but to focus on the Lord, God Almighty.
While commenting on "Dos in the time of trouble" Pastor Akeju noted that "when you're in the days of trouble you need to encourage yourself in the Lord. You need to be courageous and don't get distressed. When you're in the days of trouble, call upon the Lord. Anybody can fail you just as how science and technology has failed to save the present situation. Call upon the Lord."
"A time of trouble is a time you should re-strategise. It is a time for you to think how best you can fight the battle. It is time you commit yourself to the Holy Spirit and new ideas will come that will make you a better person than you were before. Don't be stagnant in the days of trouble. Looking for the right solution is the way-out and the right solution is when you commit yourself to Jesus Christ."
Pastor Akeju reemphasized that without Jesus there can be no solution to the problem we find ourselves in the world today, noting that one would be consumed with the problems of life without Jesus.
He stressed that this is the right time for anyone who doesn't know Jesus Christ to know Him because before anyone can find strength in Him (Jesus), the person must firstly know Him and He too must know the person.
