The story of destiny fulfillment continues as CAC News Editor, Oluwagbenga Bankole tied the knot with his sweetheart, Abosede Abisola in Lagos on Saturday, 1st of August 2020.
The story, according to the groom, Oluwagbenga Bankole began on the 27th of April, 2018. It was eventually consummated at a glamorous wedding ceremony held on at Methodist Church, Nigeria, Okeletu Circuit, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos. Due to Lagos Government ban on religious gatherings, the wedding took place at the official residence of the Minister in charge of the church with just few people in attendance and safety measures in place.
He added that the marriage was to him, a fulfillment of the scripture which says that a man shall leave his father and his mother and the two shall become one flesh.
"Today, 1st of August 2020, I know that I have fulfilled that scripture that says that a man shall leave his parents and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one flesh and I believe that God's purpose will be fulfilled in this union," he said.
Relating with details how the marriage story started, the bride, Abosede Abiola, told CAC News that his proposal came as a shock to her as he did not match up to the kind of man she had wanted, but she had to agree after the confirmations she got, a decision which she later did not regret.
She expressed her joy over having met and gotten married to Oluwagbenga, stating that they have now become best friends and she has peace from the inward part, being with him.
The chief bride's maid and friend to the bride, Tijani Deborah, who was also a key player in the relationship, testified to the fact that the relationship and marriage between Gbenga and Abosede was divine.
According to her, the proposal came as a shock to Abosede and made her depressed; they later took the proposal matter to God in prayers, He confirmed and approved it and they had to proceed to taking the matter to the necessary quarters.
On the page of approval, the bride's mother, Mrs. Abigail Ige, stated that the family's approval of the union came on the basis of observed maturity.
"When a child is due for freedom, you have to set the child free," she said.
She then advised them to always remember fatherly and motherly advice that they had gotten before marriage.
The groom's parents, Mr. and Deaconess Bankole also related that they had to approve the union considering the fact that it is divinely approved and the groom and the bride were both Christians who were matured enough to go into marriage.
"We also confirmed that she is from a good home, so we had to approve of their union," they said.
They also advised the couple to have patience, endurance, and learn to tolerate each other's mistakes as those virtues would help them sustain their marriage and as the Bible instructs, the husband should love the wife as Christ loves the Church and the wife should also be submissive.
Also, the Youth Officer, Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, Pastor Samson O. Gbuyiro, who was also present at the occasion with his family, identified the couple as children of God, which, according to him was a basis for success in marriage.
He then advised them to make Jesus Christ the standard for their home and marriage.
"Jesus said, Follow Me, and I will make you. Jesus is the Maker of every good thing that you can see. If they can follow Jesus, He will make them a good husband and a good wife; that is the secret of every good marriage - not following traditions, culture or world systems, simply following Jesus, " he said.
The officiating ministers were Methodist Church, Ikorodu Diocese Bishop, Right Reverend Samson Osundina and the Presbyter, Very Reverend Akinolu Olanlere; ministers from Christ Apostolic Church were also present, including C.A.C Youth Officer, Pastor Gbuyiro and his family; Zonal Superintendent, C.A.C Christ Family Zone, Pastor Isaiah Afolayan and his wife and few other ministers.
The church program was later followed by the engagement, held in the Ige's Compound, also at Okeletu, Ijede, Ikorodu. The event was honored by family members, ministers, some of whom were also present at the church wedding, CACYOF Lagos State Polytechnic, friends amongst others.
