The General Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Worldwide, Pastor Samuel O. Oladele has told Ministers’ Wives that they should not expect respect from anybody but give respect.
He said they should not expect justice, but give justice and be the first to show kindness.
Pastor Oladele stated this while ministering on the topic “Roles and Rewards of Ministers’ Wives in God's Administration” at the recently held 47th edition of the annual Ministers’ Wives Conference organized by the Ministers' Wives Fellowship of CAC Worldwide.
The Cleric told ministers' wives that they are what they are by the grace of God and they shouldn’t forget where they are from and their backgrounds.
According to him, for every role we play in life and ministry, there is a reward both here on earth and in the hereafter.
He said in the Old Testament, wives of the Levites and Priests were assigned no particular responsibilities except that they were to be virgins, married to members of the Priesthood, but that alone, when properly ruminated over, speaks volumes to us today.
Pastor Oladele further said in the New Testament, Ministers' wives are not known for any conspicuous and assigned role they play in the ministries of their husbands, saying that we know much of the Apostles and their ministries but not of their wives.
According to the General Superintendent, the Church officers' wives must possess certain qualifications and qualities, otherwise the ministry will be reproached.
He stressed further that Ministers’ wives should know that no one is an island, adding that ”you can’t do the ministry alone. You have people to relate with whether you like it or not. As Ministers’ Wives, many depend on you. When you are in the ministry, you have to understand people of different characters and temperaments. There are Ministers’ Wives who have brought shame to the ministry of their husbands.”
Pastor Oladele who defined humility as “putting power under control” urged ministers’ wives to be humble and not to expect respect, but give it. Don't let anyone despise your ministry by your wrong conduct. The success or failure, soundness or sickness of any church, therefore, depends very largely on you as ministers' wives."
