Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary (CACTS) Main Campus, Ile Ife, on Friday March 19, 2021 held 39th Convocation Ceremony.
The 39th convocation ceremony which began with series of activities from Monday March 15th, 2021 was consummated with a glamorous convocation ceremony with 105 students graduated.
On Monday, the Seminary hosted Pastor M. O. Yusuff, the pioneer and retired Regional Superintendent of Akinyele Region, who took the graduands through Ministerial Field Experience.
Tuesday was the Spouse Seminar which was well attended. Pastor J. A. O Awoleke, the Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church Oka-Akoko DCC. He ministered on the topic "The Family and Hard Times: Utilizing Effective Coping Strategies".
On Wednesday, a football match between CACTS Main Campus, Ile Ife and CACTS Ile Ife, (Ilesa Campus) Babajide School of Prophets and Evangelists was held to spice the occasion which was followed by a Banquet of Awards.
On Thursday, March 18th, 2021, the 9th Convocation Lecture titled "A Theological Prognosis of the Multidimensional Challenges Confronting The Nigerian Society" was delivered by Reverend O. N. Olawoyin, Ph.D, Associate Professor of Philosophy of Religion and Theology from the Department of Religious Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
Friday, 19th March, 2021 was the grand finale. The occasion attracted dignitaries, parents, guardians, friends of the institution and well-wishers. The church authorities were well represented by Pastor E. O. Odejobi, the General Superintendent and Pastor E. E. Mapur, the General Secretary.
Apart from the Seminary Principal Officers and Governing Council members, other dignitaries present were Pastor Dr. A. A. Abayomi, Coordinator, CACTS BSPE, Ilesa; Pastor C. S. G. Titiloye, Coordinator, CACTS Ile Ife, Ibadan Campus; Pastor F. A. Olaniyi, Coordinator, CACTS Ile Ife, Lagos Campus; Pastor Dr. J. O. Adegbite and Dr. Mrs. Debbie Adegbite, the Provost and Registrar of Bethel Institute of Theology and Biblical Research, Gbongan respectively, among others.
Speaking at the 39th convocation ceremony of CACTS Main Campus, Ile Ife, the newly appointed Provost, Pastor Professor Christopher Olubunmi Oshun, who was the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) and a retired Professor of the Lagos State University (LASU) congratulated the celebrators.
In his address, he expressed his appreciation to the church authorities on his new appointment as well as eulogized the smooth transition that took place between him and the erstwhile administration of Pastor Professor S. O. A. Afolabi who was equally present at the occasion.
He therefore, enjoined the new graduates to raise spiritual standards against the wiles of the devil and effectively preach the gospel to dispel fear, error, terror and darkness.
He included by saying, "Beginning next session in September, 2021, the Main Campus of the Seminary, by the grace of God, shall commence its Postgraduate programmes, in collaboration with the Department of Religious Studies, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, as soon as both Council and the Church Authority give their concurrence. We intend to start with the following programmes: (i) Postgraduate Diploma in Christian Studies, (ii) Post graduate Diploma in Theology, (iii) M. A. Theology, (iv) M.Th. (Theology), (v) M.A. Christian Studies and (vi) M.Th. (Christian Studies)."
He also announced the recent appointment of Pastor Dr. Moses O. A. Oluwaniyi as the Deputy Provost.
Furthermore, the Chairman, CACTS Governing Council, Pastor E. S. Famuyide, charged the graduands to "preach the gospel without adulteration or sentiment; pray like the apostles and CAC founding fathers; keep your family intact and be heavenly focused; emphasize the primacy of holiness and shun the quest for materialism which is the order of the day now."
He added that the graduates having passed through this great citadel of learning should allow the institution to pass through them and to always keep eternity in view irrespective of their challenges.
The General Superintendent, Pastor E. O. Odejobi, who equally represented the President of the church and the Visitor to the Seminary, Pastor S. O. Oladele, appreciated God on behalf of the Christ Apostolic Church authority for bringing the Seminary thus far.
While delivering the Presidential message titled "Who Are You?", he encouraged the graduands and the congregation not to allow the work of the ministry to carry them away from the primary reason why they accepted Jesus Christ to be their Lord and personal Saviour.
He afterwards, emphasized the need for proper tutelage before releasing potential ministers to the field, using Elijah and Elisha as case studies.
