Read riot act to criminal herders, CAC President tells Buhari

The president of Christ Apostolic Church, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to read riot act to criminal herdsmen terrorising people in various states in Nigeria.

Pastor Oladele made this statement while addressing delegates to the annual General Council of the Church at Babalola International Miracle Camp in Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State on Thursday.

The cleric was of the view that the spate of killings, kidnappings and destruction of peoples means of livelihood by bandits and terrorists calls for decisive corrective action by the President.

He drew the attention of delegates to the General Council to Genesis 34: 30  where Jacob was not only saddened by the despicable crimes committed two of his sons. Simeon and Levi but went ahead to dissociate himself from their crime.

The CAC President said President Buhari should voice out his disgust to the many acts of killings, kidnappings and terrorism being perpetrated by criminal herdsmen all over the country by providing equitable leadership which is built on righteousness.

He noted that Jacob in Gen. 49:5—6 went ahead to denounce the criminal acts of his son by declaring that: Simeon and Levi are two of a kind ready to fight at the drop of a hat. I don’t want anything to do with their vendettas, want no part in their bitter feuds; They kill men in fits of temper, slash oxen on a whim.

“We are in such a time when silence is not golden. President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria should prove, like Jacob, that he is not complicit in what his kinsmen are daily being accused of. He must deal decisively with criminality in our land, not minding who the perpetrators are or where they come from."

He added that President Buhari should remember that he would “not tread this path again after the year 2023. Most importantly, he should remember that someday soon he will have to give an account to God of his stewardships."
