The District Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Joy of Salvation District, Ibadan, Pastor Olatunji O. Adewuyi has said anything anyone achieves outside God is ungodly.
Pastor Adewuyi stated this on Wednesday July 21, 2021 while ministering on the topic "Pursuing steady growth in His step" at 2021 Academic Summit holding in Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Akakeji Osun State.
He told the students that whatever they want to pursue must be in His step and “in His step” is not an option for us as Christians.
The Cleric further said to them that they can’t profess to be followers of Christ and not be walking in accordance with the Master.
He added that "You cannot say you are on the way to glory and you are not following “the Way, the Truth and the Life”.
Pastor Adewuyi urged the students to keep the legacies of the fathers (Luke 2:41-52, Exodus 23:14,15, Deuteronomy 16:16, Hebrews 10:25), adding that as a Christ Apostolic Youth on campus, observe and keep the legacies laid down and inherited from our founding fathers.
He further stated that such include commitment, dedication, humility, honesty, prevailing prayer, self-sacrifice etc.
The Cleric also urged them to learn the word of God, be obedient, be humble, be a model and live for a purpose.
"No one can grow spiritually without the sincere milk of the Word of God. Anyone who would reap the blessings of a godly life must be a student of the Word and be ready to follow its principles. However, the knowledge of the principles of the Word of God cannot be fruitful in your life until you allow its principles to mould your heart.
"The greatest demand of God from every believer is obedience. He promises both spiritual and physical blessings to all those who walk with Him in obedience. Our success or failure in life depends very much on how obedient we are to the commandments of God.
"Humility is said to be the solid foundation of all virtues. It is freedom from pride or arrogance. Humility according to the scripture is seen as meekness, lowliness and absence of self. Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s actually thinking of yourself less.The resultant effect of Christ's humility is Ultimate exaltation. Therefore, if you follow His steps in humility, you can be sure that the Lord will lift you up (James 4:10)
"Holy Spirit is bringing to you now, that your conduct must give no cause for criticism, but you must be a follower of Christ for you to be a model to your own community on campus or even at home. Anyone who does not know his/her purpose of living will definitely abuse his/her precious time on earth. What is your purpose of living? What are you particularly living for? What is it that pre-occupies your life? What are you doing with your body, health, talents, opportunities, etc. Your purpose of living must be discovered and you must live for that singular reason," Pastor Adewuyi stated.
He concluded by telling the students that as good Christ Apostolic Youths, you ought to fear God and love His word, be obedient and subject to parents, give honour to the leaders or elders, must not despise humility but should love forbearance, modesty and purity, adding that all these are ornaments of youth years that can help in securing a future beyond campus.
