Christ Apostolic Church, Saramu Zone, Zaria, Kaduna State, on Saturday July 3rd, 2021 held seminar for Elders and Deaconesses of the zone.
The theme of the well attended seminar held at Saramu Zonal headquarters in Zaria is “Elders and Deaconesses in the Administration of Church.”
While ministering at the programme, Evang. Oladunni O. Emmanuel said God knew the importance of home of elders and deaconesses in fulfilling their mandates as important figures in the church that was why He gave conditions for their appointments in the scriptures (1 Timothy 3:8–13), adding that among these conditions, they must be able managers of their children and household.
He however said, until elders and deaconesses place God at the centre of their home affairs they cannot fully and faithfully implement their God ordained roles both at home and in the church of God because church begins from home.
According to him, Elders and deaconesses need God to administer their homes to afford every member of their family opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior without reservation (John 3: 16; John 15:6), have the mind of Christ in their personal and interpersonal relationships (Phil. 2:5; ITim. 4:8), to train their children in the way of the Lord and guide their life choices/decisions (Proverb 22:6) and achieve effective, efficient and godly resources/financial management.
He also said Elders and deaconesses need God to administer their homes to optimally practice the fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22-25) by walking in them, be able to manage and resolve conflicts within and without (Gal. 6:1), effectively put on the whole amour of God and overcome the scheme of the devil (Eph. 6;10-17) and be able to always demonstrate love and stand for the truth at all cost (ICor. 13:1,13; John 8:32).
The Cleric concluded that:’’hereas the Bible charges elders with the tasks of teaching and leading the church, deaconesses’ role is more service-oriented. That is, they are to care for the physical or temporal concerns of the church which must begin from their homes. By handling such matters, elders and deaconesses free up the pastors/ministers to focus on shepherding the spiritual needs of the congregation.”

“Yet even though elders and deaconesses are not the congregation’s spiritual leaders, their character is of utmost importance, which is why they should be examined and held to the Biblical qualifications laid down in 1 Timothy 3 when managing their homes, and by extension the church of the living God and the society at large. This is because if their homes are not well and godly administered, they cannot manage the church of God as expected by their creator (Charity begins at home). Therefore, the need to call on God for administration of their homes.”
Pls I suggest that the music conference be further decentralized to hold in Regions. This will make for more participation, considering many traveling challenges this time, and costs involved in longer journeys. Elder Innocent (Okigwe).
