The Minister in Charge of Christ Apostolic Church, Rejoice Arena, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Pastor Segun Awolumate has said that to be talented is good, but it is the first step into greatness, saying that hardwork will always defeat talent when talent refuses to work hard.
Pastor Awolumate stated this during the Sunday Service of the church on Sunday August 8, 2021.
He exclusively explained to CAC News in a chat that talent is a raw material and on its own it is not a finished product, it may shine a little but has a lot of rough edges.
According to him, God gives talents but doesn't want anyone to stop at that, noting that to be talented is good, but It is the first step into greatness.
He however said that to remain at that level or depend solely on just your talent does not guarantee success.
"I have found out in life that a man who is talented may outshine a man who is not talented. But a man who is just talented and is not working hard on it will, over time, not be able to compete with a man who is working hard on himself. Talent is never enough.
"Do you remember that there were many boys while you were young who could play football well? They were so talented at it. There were many singers in our choirs who we knew were talented at it. Can you just pause and cross check how many of them really made it through to the next level? There are still some we see around us who are losing their places because some hard working people are now shining.
Dedication and diligence help sharpen your raw talent and make you shine in this Kingdom. You may not be good at it now but with consistent hard work you will certainly get it right one day.Proverbs 12:24 says the hand of the diligent will rule not the hand of the talented. If talent refuses to work hard, hard work will beat it.
"Ask Michael Jordan, David Beckham, Christano Ronaldo, the great pianists like Handel or Beethoven etc and you will see several hours of hard work behind the scenes for them to perfect their skills.Greatness doesn't just happen on account of talent alone. Hard work makes your gold glitter and removes the rough edges on your diamond," he stated.
Exactly sir.
