The Head Usher of Christ Apostolic Church, Akinyele Region, Pastor Isaac Omoyeni has told Ushers that as they serve effectively to save souls, they should strive harder to have their names written in the Book of Life.
He said the rewards are sure for those that diligently, patiently, humbly, perseveringly and effectively served God.
Pastor Omoyeni stated this while ministering on the topic "The Role of Ushers in a Time Like This" at the 3rd Ushers' Conference of CAC Akinyele Region held on Saturday October 16, 2021 at CAC Agbala Itura Zonal headquarters, Lagos.
The Cleric also told the Ushers that the present dispensation requires spiritual and technical attention with intelligence and professionalism demonstration to enable them withstand the challenges of banditry, kidnappers, herders, armed robberies, religious fanatics and insurgencies that are facing the Christian circle and the World today.
According to him: "the Ushers require the supports of our church leaders in area of provision of necessary and adequate security materials in addition to the ushers' spiritual powers in order to withstand the task ahead. The ushers must also submit themselves to these challenges as Heavenly hosts are with us (II King 6:8, Daniel 6:21-22, Isaiah 54:17, Jeremiah 1:19, Jeremiah 15:20 and II Cor. 10:3-4)."
He revealed that in the beginning, God created man in His own image and put them in the Garden of Eden to worship Him, but due to disobedience, God drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden and used an Angel to guard the entrances. That was the beginning of the work of Ushers in the house of God today.
The Ushers, according to him represented security in all God's services as they oversee all things in the House of God both humanly and materially.
He further stressed that Ushers as called today were known in the beginning as Porters or Gatekeepers (1 Chro 9:22, II Chro 23:19, 1 Chro 9:17 and John 10:3), God himself appointed them to serve as security in all His Services (Neh. 12:25) as part of Levites (Neh 13:5), adding that these are the three approved and consecrated vessel by God to serve in His Services and they are the Priest, the Usher and the choir.
On the criteria to appoint or choose an usher, Pastor Omoyeni said: "he is a chosen vessel among the children of God with good name and records, Act 6:3, Ex 36:2, 1 Chro 9:22 and I Tim. 1:12 to serve in all different services as it may be announced by the Church Authority. He must be a born again child of God (Rom 8:8,and I Cor. 5:17).
"He must be a member of the Church for at least five to six years or above and must be trained physically and spiritually on the job, I Timothy 3:6. He must have been baptized by immersion and received the gifts of Holy Spirit with reflections of its fruit in appearances and characters - II Cor.5:22-23, Acts 1:8 and Act 2:1-4.
"He is a Holy receptionist/security or God's Police constituted to maintain law and order in every service or programme. He must be an able-bodied person, upright in all ramifications, disciplined, prayerful, hardworking, bold, brave, endurable, approachable, teachable, accommodative, patient, humble, kind and hospitable (Phil 2:3, 14-15, 1 Peter 2:12, II Peter 1:5).
He must be literate, at least to be able to read and write. Must not have a polygamous family (must have one wife/husband) partaking in Holy Communion (I Timothy 3:2). He must be a friend of the Holy Bible."
The programme had in attendance the Acting Regional Superintendent of CAC Akinyele Region, Pastor S.A. Adedayo and former General Evangelist, Prophet S.K. Abiara. A session of the programme was dedicated to hold sent-off for the former Coordinator of CAC Akinyele Region Usher, Pastor M.A. Amole who the church Authority has transferred to Ondo state.
