Special Assistant to Christ Apostolic Church President, Pastor Tunde Asokeji, has challenged regional and centre leaders at Day 2 of the ongoing 2022 CACYOF National Leadership Retreat to not only set a standard but be the standard.

Pastor Asokeji, speaking on the topic "Leadership Ethics for Youth Ministry" with its text from 1 Timothy 4:12, stated the necessity for leaders to "have a standard, set your standard and be the standard" in speech, conduct and association.

Alluding Paul's charge to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12, the cleric admonished his audience to set a standard in your conversation, conduct, love (your relationship), spirit, faith and purity, stating that, "when you have a standard, people will always respect your standard. You can only change people's opinion about you by the standards you set."

While explaining the four key words in the topic of the lecture - Leadership, Ethics, Youth and Ministry, Pastor Asokeji described leadership as influence and ability to persuade others to behave in a certain way; ethics as the principles, values which will guide conduct and association; youth as an age of power, vision, ambition and possible recklessness; and ministry as service and work.

Pastor Asokeji who explained that the Holy Spirit is essential in every Christian walk - Bible Study, Prayer etc; stated that, "if you are a Christian and you cannot allow the holy spirit to take preeminence, you cannot please God."

Challenging leaders not to allow communication and association change who they are, the clergyman stated that, "the reasons why most of us compromised is the reason Daniel and Joseph excelled."

He also noted that, "when you do what is right, people may not like you, but they will respect you."
