Amidst the calls and advocation for divorce because of the strange happenings in marital unions across the world, the Director of Youth Affairs, Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel O. Gbuyiro, has decried that divorce remains unbiblical and God's standard must not be compromised.
Pastor Gbuyiro, in an admonition to Christian Couples and potential husbands and wives against the public opinions on marriage, stated that, "today, because of strange happenings among couples around the world, majority of people are now advocating, promoting the option of divorce to become a norm in Christian marriage."
"However, God standard remains unchanged and His position can never be compromised. God detests DIVORCE says the Bible and that is final," he said.
According to Pastor Gbuyiro, who is also an expert at marital matters, the world has a way of handling issues of life including marriage, which is always different from God's way, but He will never lower His standard and subscribe to whatever solutions the world is out to offer.
He also noted that, "the Bible clarifies that God hates divorce...the option of divorce is of the world and not of God and it will never find a space in Christian marriages."
The cleric explained that choosing the option of divorce because of challenges in marriage is like jumping into the sea with no guarantee of safety, but would rather miss the miracle of God's intervention.
Interpreting Mark 4:38, "And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm," in the light of marital relationships, Pastor Gbuyiro described that the presence of storm in the journey of marriage doesn't suggest God's absence.
He continued that, "why He allows storms is for us to know that He has the power and authority to calm them without losing anything but to shame the devil. Because marriage is of the Lord, it's the responsibility of every true child of God to partner with God, the Author so as to save it from collapse."
The Director of Youth Affairs who explained that the disciples of Jesus did not consider the option of jumping out of the boat into the sea while the storm raged but waited on Jesus to calm the storm; inferred that, marriage is of the Lord and its challenges must be handled in God's ways.
"He arose and commanded the storm to be still and there was a great calm. At the command of Jesus, the storm ceased, the disciples continued their journey and the boat landed safely," he added.
