The General Superintendent, Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Emmanuel O. Odejobi has said for anyone to become a missionary, such person must be sent by God.
Pastor Odejobi stated this on Friday September 16, 2022 while speaking on the topic "Perfect Missions Growth" at the Missions Conference 2022 organised by the Missions Department of CAC Nigeria and Overseas.
He said a mission that is perfect is expected to grow spiritually, administratively, numerically, financially, materially and socially, stating that it can be called holistic or perfect when it achieves these points.
Speaking on six steps towards holistic growth, Pastor Odejobi said a missionary must know what mission is, explaining that not knowing what mission is, is the step one to mission failure.
"It will be a great failure if missionaries do not know what mission is. It is an assignment set by an employer not by self. It is an assignment set up not by the missionary, but the employer who is God. We thank God for what God is doing through our missionaries in CAC, but it will be better if we don't take it for granted. You should be proud of your job," he said.
The General Superintendent also said another step to holistic mission growth is for the missionaries to know their assignment.
"What mission is about is preaching and giving. Ignorantly ignoring these two will lead the missionaries to total failure. Not mere preaching, but immaculate gospel preaching," the Clergyman said.
Pastor Odejobi stressed that one must be an approved minister to carryout the missionary assignment which is soul winning and church planting.
He faulted ministers of God who always boast about their call, saying that ministers of God should be boastful of being chosen, not about the call.
Quoting Ecclesiastes chapter 7 verse 12 which says "For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense, but the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it", Pastor Odejobi also said that it is not fasting and prayer that gives life, but wisdom.
The General Superintendent urged the missionaries on total submission to God and the church authority.
