Christ Apostolic Church, Akinyele Region on Saturday October 1, 2022 held Ministers' Wives Summit.
The well attended programme which was held at the regional headquarters of Akinyele Region, CAC Ebute Elefun, Lagos Island, Lagos State had in attendance ministers' wives in the region.
This year's edition of the Summit was so unique in that it was an all women’s affair for deeper heart-to-heart talk and insight into very exclusive feminine matter unlike previous years where the husbands were involved.
Nevertheless, the event was honourably witnessed by the Regional Superintendent of Akinyele Region, Pastor S.A. Adedayo, Regional Secretary of the Region, Pastor Seyi Oyedeji and the Regional MWF Coordinator, Pastor Gideon.O. Oladokun.
The Regional Chairperson of the MWF, Mrs. C.F. Adedayo in her welcome address said the topic of the seminar is “The Role of Ministers' Wives in the Ministry of their Husbands in the Church.”
She noted that in the Bible there are different examples of women who supported their husbands, among them are Sarah, the wife of Abraham, Abigail the wife of Nabal and so on.
She added that "God is very much happy when He sees us supporting our husbands in the ministry and there is reward for us. I want to plead with us to be patient.
Regional Superintendent of CAC Akinyele Region, Pastor Adedayo said there are many things people are expecting from the Ministers' Wives, especially in the congregation, District, Zone, DCC and at the Regional levels where their husbands are working.
He further stressed that though the expectations may differ from place to place, some women, (Pastors' wives) have gotten the requirements and details of the position while some women (Pastors' wives) are far behind thereby causing impediments in the ministry of their husbands.
Citing 1st Timothy chapter 3 verses 1 to 11, Pastor Adedayo stated that "we deduced the following from the passage that the ministers’ wives must be serious, not slanderer must be temperate, faithful in all things, hospitable, lover of goodness and above all must be a model of what a Christian family should be. To sum it up, it means that the Pastor's wife must be a matured woman, Godly Christian woman who performs her God given duty to show herself as a model Christian wife and mother."
According to the Clergyman, the Ministers' Wife must be literate, one who reads her Bible on daily basis.
He further said a minister's wife must be someone who shows good example in the meetings of the Church among the women and must be prompt in church attendance and services (both the midweek and on Sundays).
"The minister’s wife has some obligations to herself. But before that, she needs to discover exactly who she is. She must learn to be herself. Having done this, comes the obligations which include:That the minister’s wife is special – It is when she can accept and look at herself, then powerful things may happen. She must be accommodating, disciplined and generous. Sometimes it may cost the pastor’s wife to prepare little extra for someone who is in need even after she had prepared for her family. She must maintain her relationship with God. This she does by setting aside in each day a definite time to be alone with God in prayers and the reading of His Word," he stated.
