The Authority of Christ Apostolic Church has inducted a renowned gospel singer, Pastor Joseph Adebayo Adelakun, popularly known as "Ayewa" as the pioneer Zonal Superintendent of the newly inaugurated Zone, CAC Mercyland Unity zone on Sunday October 16, 2022.
It was a memorable day of history for the doyen of sacred and evergreen gospel music, Pastor Adelakun as his family, friends and well wishers gathered to witness the historical service.
The inauguration of Mercyland Unity Zone and induction of Pastor Adelakun as the Zonal Superintendent was done by the Regional Superintendent of CAC Akinyele Region, Pastor S.A. Adedayo who represented the Church Authority.
CAC Mercyland Unity Zone was formerly under Ketu DCC as a District before it was elevated by the Church Authority.
The service had in attendance the Regional Superintendent of CAC Akinyele Region, Pastor Adedayo, retired and former Regional Superintendent of Akinyele, Pastor M.O. Yusuff, DCC Superintendent of Ketu DCC, Pastor M.A. Ajayi, DCC Superintendent of Itire DCC, Pastor Gideon O. Oladokun, Zonal Superintendent, Ogudu Zone, Pastor Titus Oyerinde, Superintendent of CAC Ojodu-Abiodun Zone, Pastor A. Akin Oniwinde, Zonal Superintendent of Life and Power Zone, Pastor Mich'Tunji Oladapo and many others.
While ministering at the programme, the DCC Superintendent of CAC Itire DCC, Pastor Oladokun on the topic "Ten Factors of a Healthy Church" said the most important and only property of God on earth is the Church.
He further said whatever position we occupy in the church is not greater than soul wining, emphasizing that the primary duty of the church is soul winning.
According to him, a healthy church must be a soul winning and growing church, noting that no church can claim to be healthy when nobody is being developed.
Pastor Oladokun stated that part of development of the newly created Zone is the development from District to Zone, but that is not the end, urging them to continue to train and disciple people for the Lord.
The Clergyman said a church can be very sick, it can move from the position of sickness to death, stressing that so many churches are dead but are still singing, praying and dancing.
On ten factors of a healthy church, Pastor Oladokun said a healthy church must be authentic, explaining that "Church leaders must demonstrate sincerity and must be authentic in all they do. Members must see the Pastor as 'my pastor.' There are three levels of Pastors; their Pastor, our Pastor and my Pastor. When church members don't see the church Pastor as 'my Pastor' it shows that their membership is not authentic."
He further said that one of the ten factors of a healthy church is everyone must do personal evangelism, saying that no church can be healthy without making church members soul winners.
Pastor Oladokun further said on the ten factors of a healthy church that "the members of the healthy church must be proud of the Pastor and the church. When members are proud of their Pastors, they will gladly invite people to their church. You must be very close to anyone who happens to be your Pastor. When you're familiar with your Pastor you're the luckiest."
The Clergyman noted that there must be an atmosphere of love and acceptance, enthusiasm and joy, no compromise of essentials, small group opportunity, creative approach, quality Children Church and evangelistic leader are part of ten factors of a healthy church.
In his appreciation message, the newly inducted Superintendent of Mercyland Unity Zone, Pastor Adelakun appreciated God for the grace given to him.
He also appreciated the Church Authority and everyone who graced the occasion, including the programme planing committee.
Pastor Adelakun while still appreciating God for everything said he was never after the position despite the fact that he personally knows the President and General Superintendent for many years.
According to him, they should have attained the status a few years ago, but this is the right time.
The service ended with presentation of gifts to the newly inducted Superintendent and his wife, Benediction and photographs session.
