It was indeed a day of praise and thanksgiving on Sunday November 27, 2022 as the Director of Music, Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, and his beautiful wife, Mrs. Christiana Dada celebrated the 40th anniversary of their marriage.
The service which had in attendance family, friends and well wishers of the celebrants was held at CAC New Covenant Assembly, Lagos.
Pastor Tope Dada, when sharing his testimony stated that the 3,000 capacity church auditorium where he got married in 1982, CAC Oke Isegun, Akure was the biggest at that time and it was filled to the brim, with notable leaders of the church in attendance such as Pastor Adegoroye, Pastor J.B. Orogun, Prophet Omojuwa, Pastor E H.L. Oluseye, to mention a few.
Mrs. Christiana Tope Dada affirmed that it had been a journey of love, acceptance and continuous forgiveness. She said they decided to always see the cup as half filled rather than half empty.
She also retriated that there was never a time a third party was allowed in their marriage. She urged couples to make Jesus the only party in their marriage.
The couple shared testimony of how God was faithful in meeting their needs on their wedding day and how He's been meeting their needs across the years.
The first son of the couple, Pastor Tolu-tope Dada, who spoke on behalf of the children said he could see a model in his parents that "it pays to serve Jesus."
He said "once God speaks, even though we may not know how it'll work out, we should just hold on to the word of God. That is one of the things I've learnt from the lives of my parents" Pastor Dr. Falade, in his sermon from Amos 3:3, explained the need for agreement between couples for any marriage to work.
He also said that there's no marriage without its own unique challenges, but both parties must be resolute in sorting out their differences and overcoming all challenges. He further said that couples need to invite Jesus into the boat of their marriage.
The choir of the church, CAC New Covenant Assembly, Lagos also tried to replicate what happened on 27th November, 1982 by singing the popular hymn 93, to God be the glory, with two additional verses Pastor Tope Dada composed for his wedding day. The choir also rearranged one of the special numbers sung by CACSA National choir in those days and presented it at the anniversary.
Among notable guests who attended the Thanksgiving service are: CAC Director of Christian Education, Pastor Dr. S.O. Falade, Superintendent, Grace Tabernacle DCC, Pastor Ogungbenjo,District Superintendent, New Covenant District, Pastor Abraham Ekebafe, Chairman Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Elder Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Pastor Barr. Layi Abidoye, Elder Bidemi Oyesanya, SAN, who led other choir leaders across Lagos state to the thanksgiving service, Mrs. Ayotunde Adeusi, Pastor and Mrs Ayo Oluwagunna etc.
