The President of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel O. Oladele has implored ministers, particularly DCC and Zonal Superintendents not to use their power violently, urging them to remember they will give account before God.
Citing Nimrod as a case study (Genesis Chapter 10), Pastor Oladele said history has judged Nimrod the way he used his power violently as he was lawless, saying there are leaders like Nimrod today who behave lawlessly.
Pastor Oladele stated this on Wednesday January 18, 2023 while ministering on the topic "The Use of Might" at the Meeting of all DCC/Zonal Superintendents with the Church Authority held at CAC All Saints' Chapel, CAC General Secretariat, Ibadan.
He further said; "we are leaders and we have might. You are mighty where you are and we are mighty where we are. There is nothing bad about it, God allows it and He gives it to people. But it shall be said of us what we use our might to do. A time is coming when people will be saying about us what we did while in office. There are things that shouldn't be heard among us but it happened because we have decided to use our might to cause chaos, to demote some people, to surpress information or directive coming from the secretariat and to turn church to a political house in order to achieve our aims."
The President said to the Superintendents that truly they have might, but one day they will stand before the Almighty (God) to give account.
"Nimrod was an oppressor. There are people among us who are oppressors. Some of us are not leaders but dealers. You use might to misrepresent us. Can God trust you with might? Can the church authority trust you with might? There are some of us who kill our leaders. Some of us are not leaders, but masterful. It is very dangerous to be masterful where we are here. Those who are masterful think little about the feelings or what others are passing through. The essence of masterfulnes is to win or hold for oneself, not for God. If you want to work for God in an acceptable way, you will relate with others as a child of God. Nimrod was masterful, he was mighty before the Lord using his might wrongly. Don't use your might wrongly like Nimrod," the President urged.
According to him, masterfulness is a natural disposition, but that disposition can be repressed through the grace of God which is the essence of growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
On what masterfulness does, Pastor Oladele said it causes dangers to others - like the colonian masters did to Nigeria.
He also said masterfulness dishonor God, adding that; "remember Nebuchadnezzar who boasted of himself, he talked like an animal and he became an animal."
On what should we do with our might, Pastor Oladele told the Superintendents that; "stand on one side, clear yourself away from the road, let people see God. Let them see Christ. When you move from the road, people will see Christ. They will honor and worship Him. Don't stand before God in order for people to see you and not God."
Along with the President of the Church, the well attended meeting had in attendance the General Superintendent of the Church, Pastor Emmanuel O. Odejobi; General Evangelist, Prophet Hezekiah O. Oladeji; General Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel E. Mapur; while the Finance Director, Pastor Johnson F. Omitinde was unavoidably absent (on national duty) and Missions Director, Pastor Caxton S. Fasuyi. Others in attendance are Regional Superintendents, DCC Zonal Superintendents, Directors and HODs of the Church.
