What is the plan for the 50th anniversary of Ministers' Wives Fellowship?
We give glory to God because it is not by our own making, but it is the Lord's making. We have made some plans for the anniversary to the glory of God and for the edification of His name. We plan to have in attendance our leaders' wives that are still alive and families of those who have gone to be with the Lord. They are joining us to appreciate God because they were the ones used by God to establish and sustain the legacies of the fellowship. We are going to appreciate them. It's going to be colourful.
Can you take us down the memory lane of the achievement of the fellowship since the last 50 years?
There are lots of achievements. Mama E. T. Latunde (the wife of the then President, Pastor E. T. Latunde) was the first Chairperson of the Fellowship, while Baba Okpaise was made the secretary of the Fellowship for it to move forward. From inception, the pioneer leaders had imbibed the process of teaching, educating and coordinating the ministers of the church. We have been building on that since then. Whenever we have meetings, we always talk to ourselves on how to relate with other people in the field, how to relate with our husbands and our children because we are the epistle that people are reading. Those are the things we have been trying to do and thank God we have been seeing some improvements among us.
What is the theme of this year's conference?
The theme is "A Woman of Purpose." Proverbs 31:10-30
We gathered that there is an ongoing house project in Ikeji which is being done by the Ministers' Wives Fellowship. Will the building be ready for dedication during the conference?
It would not be ready for dedication, It is not part of our plans to dedicate it at the conference. If you have been going to Ikeji you will notice that the place is for our canteen. We decided to make it a storey building and make the canteen a modern one. We said it at last year General Council Meeting that we plan to have "kiddies' corner" as part of the building where our children can entertain and play during our conference. The building will also serve as accommodation for people who come to the camp ground for conference or for prayer. In our recent meeting we have decided to make it two storeys instead of one storey building as planned.
Apart from the award that would be given to families of past leaders of the fellowship, is there any other thing that will add glamour to the 50 anniversary of the fellowship?
We have invited different singers from our regions representing the various tribes that we have in Nigeria to minister, also we will be enjoying the ministration of our dear sister and mother, Evang. (Dr) Bola Are at our conference. We would have loved to invite more gospel singers but for the far distance.
