The President of the Christ Apostolic Church l, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has expressed dismay over the unceasing desecration of fatherhood by men and women in the ministry.
Pastor Oladele said showing reverence for fatherhood, most especially those who had wholeheartedly served in various capacities in the church must be honored for their sterling record of achievement.
The President who was represented by the General Secretary of the church, Pastor Emmanuel E. Mapur stated in an address delivered by him at a conference organized by Dag Heward Mills Ministries, entitled “Honouring The Fathers”, on Saturday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The clergyman asserted that CAC had the heritage of fatherhood and valid proofs of “honouring our fathers”.
He meticulously explained that the authority of CAC has profound respect for its retired officers and won't shun their faultless counsel aimed at standing the church in good stead.
Pastor Oladele said, “there are many men and women in ministry today who do not have a father-figure, while those who claim to have, do not honour them. Such ministers find it difficult to submit to the Authority of a father, especially as pertains to discipline and accountability”
“The concept of "Father-hood" was established by God to provide guidance, counsel and discipline for His children through an earthly viceroy”
“We have retired officers our Church - e.g. we have two former Presidents, a General Superintendent and a General Evangelist among others - to who we show great honour and from who we seek godly counsel”
“For instance, eight days ago (on Saturday April 29th, 2023), we were in Owo, Ondo State, to honour one of our Patriarch - 92-year old retired General Superintendent, brother D.O.A. OLOYE - who celebrated 70 years of his call to the ministry.
“The Authority of C.A.C. considers the "HONOURING THE FATHERS" Conference apt and relevant hence the approval to allow the use of this Chapel facility”
“Moreover, we commend the commitment and consistency of Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, one of our contemporary versions of the beloved disciple Luke, who trained as a medical practitioner but yielded to the higher call of our Lord, Jesus Christ.”
