The Regional Youth Coordinator of Christ Apostolic Church Youth Fellowship (CACYOF), Akinyele Region, Pastor Olu Olorunpomi has affirmed that people who do not make impact are wasting resources.
He said this during the workshop session at the 2023 Lagos Campus Executive Retreat held in CAC Mount of Wonders, Lagos on Saturday, April 29th, 2023.
According to him, the level of impact one makes is determined by how much the leader is able to maximize resources.
Pastor Olorunpomi identified men, moments, money, methods, materials and machines as the resources which every leader should maximize.
Dwelling more on how resources should be maximized; he stated that the needs can either be important or urgent.
“Important but not urgent, you defer; urgent but not important, you delegate; not important and not urgent, discard; the important and urgent, do!” He stressed.
He also outlined the nothingness, the complainant, the impulsive, the entitlement, and the comparison mentality as the negative attitudes executives should guard against while they imbibe the maximizing mentality.
“Don’t be an impulsive person; don’t be pressurized into making decisions especially when it comes to utilization of resources," he advised.
Emphasizing how to appropriate resources, Pastor Olorunpomi said that executive should cultivate the act of stock taking, setting SMART goals, the habit of budgeting, team spirit, and sacrifice.
Addressing the subject of team spirit, he also said, "no matter how brilliant you are, your brain alone is not enough. As a leader, don’t be a lone ranger."
On the subject of sacrifice, he said,“The money you don’t make, you cannot manage; the resources you don’t make, you cannot manage”.
He also stated that the fellowship’s availability or unavailability of resources is dependent on the leadership of the fellowship.
Whether resources are enough or not in the fellowship, it is the function of those in charge," he concluded.
