In this short interview, the DCC Superintendent of Itire DCC, Pastor (Dr.) Gideon O. Oladokun speaks on this year’s edition of the programme. Excerpt !
Kindly assess last year's Showers of Blessings Programme
We thank God for last year's Showers of Blessings programme. It was great and people attended in large numbers. Since we have been holding the programme, attendance has been massive. A lot of people attended the just concluded pre-showers of blessing programme.
What is the plan for this year's edition?
We started this year's edition on June 4 and it ends in August, 2023.
Cuts-in: Who are the guest ministers?
Already we have had Pastor Johnson Adeniji from Ilorin and Prophet Aniyikaye from Lagos for the pre-showers programme. The guest ministers for showers of blessings are Prophet Seun Adegoke, Pastor S.O. Alo, Prophet R.O. Oluwalana and Prophet Timothy Yerokun (who will handle the grand finale). The programme will feature the Curate Pastor of Itire, Pastor Tope Osasona, Associate Pastor, Pastor Gabriel Jacobs and church Evangelist, Evang. Sunday Fowowe. Gospel singers are Evang. (Mrs.) Motunrayo Oloyede (Hephzibah), Evang. (Mrs.) Stella Onifade, Mosun Exalter, Evang. (Mrs.) Tope Flourish and Evang. (Mrs.) Folashade Adebayo.
What is the theme of this year’s Showers of Blessing?
The theme is “Deliverance from Zion.” God usually give me theme every year for the church and that is the theme we use for the whole year, even for our annual December to Remember programme. God told me He wants to deliver His people from the captive of Satan.
The programme keeps attracting non-members of the church on yearly basis. Why do you think this keeps happening?
Every Tuesday between 9am and 12noon, we do hold a similar programme, but we didn’t name it showers of blessing. Majority of those who attend the programme are non-members of CAC Itire, including Muslims. We call it “Meeting of the Victors” (Ipade Asegun). Showers of blessing programme attracts a lot of people regardless their religion or denominations.
The perception of most people for programmes like is that the church wants to use it for fund raising. What is your thought on this, sir?
The programme is not for fund raising, though people will give offerings. We don’t intend to raise money for anything. The intention is to bless people spiritually. Our goal is that people should come and receive their deliverance from God. Our primary objective is evangelism and that is what we do on yearly basis. We are calling all and sundry to attend the programme. I am very sure that God will meet them at the point of their needs. God has been blessing people over the years through the programme and they will never regret they come.
What is your thought on the new administration of President Bola Tinubu?
It’s too early to assess his administration. I am praying for him so that God will use him to make a radical change in the country. I believe his government will do well if allowed to work.
