The General Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Emmanuel O. Odejobi has admonished Christians across the globe to always examine themselves so that Satan's examination will not overcome them.
Pastor Odejobi said this while ministering on the topic "Examining Yourself" at the just concluded CAC 79th Good Women Conference, Ikeji-1 conference center held at Babalola International Miracle Camp, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State.
He noted that Satan is always there to examine Christians just like the way he did to Job, adding that if you're able to examine yourself as Christians with sound doctrine, you will be able to overcome the devil just like the day Jesus overcame him.
He questioned people who sing CACGHB 821(There is victory within my soul) without examining themselves because according to him, when examination of Satan comes, such people will fail and fall woefully.
According to him, anyone who fail to examine him or herself and is saying temptation should (just like CACGHB 821 says) come, wants to kill him or herself.
"Examining yourself implies searching yourself through deep thoughts during quiet time to know if you're right or wrong. Many people have forsaken their quiet time and without it, one can't reach his or her reachable. It's a time of self examination. It's a time of meditation and deep thinking. If you don't know how to examine yourself, you will fall unexpectedly or freely," he stated.
Pastor Odejobi opined that lack of thinking faculty is responsible for failures of many people, but they ascribe it to the devil.
He added that; "if you fail to examine yourself, you're prone to failure. Jesus examined himself and after 40 days fasting and prayer, the devil came to meet Him. He was able to overcome the devil because of His sonship title, unlike today when most ministers are proud of their ministerial titles or calling which devil never respected. We have to examine ourselves to know if we are in faith. It's one thing to have faith and it's another thing is to be in faith. Many people have accepted the faith, but not in it and this is because they failed to examine themselves."
Speaking on why we need to examine ourselves, the General Superintendent said as Christians we must examine ourselves regularly in order not to be disqualified in this present world and in eternity.
He also said Christians need to examine themselves in order not to serve God with reprobate mind and to avoid being a reproach and blemish.
He concluded that: "our mirror is the Word of God. My own mirror is the Word of God and my wife. Failure to mirror our lives with the Word of God will result to reproach and blemish. Your mirror should be your Bible and your wife or husband. There are female Evangelists who are gifted, but because they don't have the Bible and their husbands/wives as their mirror, they fall with their gifts."
