The sooner we all understand the true nature of life, the less we trouble ourselves about the pursuit of vanity and temporary things.
If the conclusion of King Solomon, (arguably one of the wealthiest persons to have lived on earth) about life is that “Vanity of Vanities. All is vanity”, then we need to think again and meditate deeply on our pursuit of vanities.
Life is like a currency which keeps rotating from one person to so many people, continuously.
If you have $100 today, tomorrow you will give it to someone else and the day after, the person you gave it to, will give it to someone else.
The cycle keeps on rotating.
Just like the $100 note, The President today, will some day hand over power to another President, just like the power was handed over to him by the President before him; and the cycle goes on.
Whatever you have today; be it money, cars, houses, position etc or whatever position you occupy today are not forever.
Nothing lasts forever.
Even if you maintain good relationships with people, who you cherish deeply and are very special to you, a day will come when death or other circumstances will bring about a separation.
The reality of life is that, Nothing in life is permanent, neither does anything physical or material last for ever.
It is all temporary!
A state of the art car or house in the 80s is not appreciated or valued by the world today, because it has lost its value and something new has replaced it.
Remember, you have nothing to lose in life because nothing in this life really belongs to you.
As soon as you depart, those things automatically become other people’s possessions.
Where are the richest, most beautiful and most powerful people of yesterday?
Most of them are gone and forgotten!
They have been replaced by others and the world rarely remembers them anymore.
The only thing that can make generations to remember you is the positive impact you make and the good legacy you leave behind.
Never get carried away to the extent that you forget that every position of influence, power and authority has an expiry date.
Whenever you find yourself in a position of power, always remember that it is not permanent.
Sooner or later, you will be replaced.
So be careful and mindful of how you use the power and position, because, a day of reckoning is certain.
Learn from life and make positive impact when you have the opportunity to do so and never expect appreciation or recognition from people.
Experience of life has taught us that even if you give 99.9% of your best to people, all they will remember is that one thing you didn’t do for them.
The person you profess you love most, may forget you and move on.
So, abide by the golden rule and do unto others as you will want them do to you.
Stop bragging about whatever you’ve acquired here on earth and always remember that NOTHING IN LIFE IS YOURS.
Recently, I heard the story of a wealthy man, who had great possessions, but would not allow his children or wife to touch or use any of these things.
He had a special vehicle he loved so much, that he would not allow anyone to touch.
When he died, and they were preparing for a service in his house,
his son was using the expensive jeep to carry chairs and tables to be used for his service.
That was a vehicle no one dared touch when he was alive.
“You came to this world naked and you will return naked” 1 Timothy 6:7
Ecclesiastes 5:15
In Matthew 6:19-21,
Jesus says “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Be guided and live wisely.
