It was an atmosphere full of encomium and emotions as Christ Apostolic Church, Medaiyese regional headquarters, Durumi, Abuja on Sunday October 29, 2023 held commendation service for Regional Superintendent, Pastor Collins Osita Chukwuezie.
The church leaders and members at the service poured praises on the Regional Superintendent, described him as a true man of God and a soldier of Christ.
The Church Secretary, Elder S. A. Aladejare, speaking on behalf of the church board, described the regional superintendent as a soldier of Christ and good manager of God’s resources.
``Initially, Chukwuezie was a solider of this world and his case is exactly like that of Peter in the Bible, whom God said follow me and I will make you fishers of men. Today he is a soldier for Jesus Christ,’’ Aladejare said.
The CACMA Chairman, Elder Olufemi Ayansola described Chukwuezie as man of peace, who always love to live in peace with everyone in accordance to the commandment of the Lord.
Ayansola also described the regional superintendent as a teacher of the word of God and a humble leader.
``The degrees he acquired in all the universities and seminary he attended, he brought the it into practice in this ministry.
``Whenever we have board of elders’ meeting with the agenda for baba to speak within 10 minutes or so, you will not know when Baba has spoken for 30 minutes and you will enjoy it.
``He also practices humility. He doesn't say he is the leader. This is an example of our Lord Jesus Christ.
``Baba is also a man of faith. He believes in the word of God and he put it into practice whatever challenges facing any of the,’’ he said.
He added that Pastor Chukwuezie also believes in visitation of church members and promotion of the pastors.
The Church Youth Leader, Elder Doyin George, described Chukwuezie as a true man of God, with special love for the youth.
``When you don’t go to baba, he will say I’ve not seen you, please come and disturb me. Bring your matters. And whenever we take issues to him you can make sure that those issues will be solved’’ he said.
Elder George used the COLLINS acronyms to describe some of the attributes of the regional superintendent:
``C-Core and committed minister of God.
``O-Obedient follower of Christ.
`` L-Lover of the word of God,
``L- Living example of godliness.
`` In- an Innovative leader,
``N-No nonsense administrator, and
``S-selfless servant of God.’’
To the Good women Association, represented by Dcns. Florence Yawson, described the regional the regional superintendent as a good leader who had played his part I the spiritual growth of the church.
She prayed that though Chukwuezie and his wives are retiring, they would not retire into death or sickness, but be stronger for Christ and his work.
In his sermon titled ``God Word of God Settled and Restored All Matters’’ Pastor Sunday Adesipe, advised Christians to have total dependence on the word of God.
Taking his text from John 8:1-11 urged Christian to be rooted in the word of God and apply it at all time.
He described the word of God as the foundation and guidance of man, saying through His word God created all things including the light.
``The word of God is powerful, reliable and the source of wisdom and guidance in all matters of life. It is a reliable source of wisdom that brings clarity in time of confusion, comfort in time of suffering and challenges.
``The word of God brings settlement, restoration, relief, direction, guidance, deliverance, relief, fulfillment, peace, repentance and forgiveness, recovery etc. It is life and truth. It is a river that never runs dry.
``The adulterous woman was judged and condemned by sinful, self- righteous men to death but Jesus brought forgiveness for all, settlement and restoration
``Let us remember that the word of God, study, mediate and apply it at all time,’’ he advised.
Adesipe also advised Chkwuezie not to go home to rest but continue to yield to the call when his assistance is needed.
In his response, Pastor Chukwuezie appreciating the church for the cooperation and support received during his tenure in the region, describing CAC Garki as the best of all the places he served.
Pastor Chukwuezie said that haven served in states when he start his ministering career in 1970 including Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River, Anambra, Sokoto, Plateau, Imo, Lagos among others, Abuja remain the best for him.
``I came from an idolatrous lonely, obscure background but today I have known everywhere in Nigeria,’’ he said.
His son, Obinna Chukwuezie who couldn’t hold back his tears of joy said he was very happy seen his parents returning home active and happy.
Obinna said went emotional during the service when he saw his dad rolling on the floor to appreciate God.
`` I felt very emotional at some point in today's service. As pastor’s children we watched our parents going through a lot. As my dad was rolling on the floor today I started shedding tears because the song brought back a lot of memories.
``Many of you don't know our story. We have gone through a lot. There are places that my dad served that has left very strong impression in our lives. This is one of the places.
``I'm happy the active service is ending so well and beautiful here,’’ he said.
