Marriage not a union of perfect people, but people who understand each other perfectly, says Pastor Unction Timothy

An expert in marriage counselling and Minister-in-charge of Christ Apostolic Church, Praise Chapel, Ile Ife, Osun State, Pastor Unction Timothy Olufemi, has said that marriage is not a union of two perfect people, but a union of people who understand each other perfectly.

"What makes you have a happy home is your knowledge about it, it is not because you are a Pastor or Professor," he said.

Pastor Olufemi was the Guest Speaker of the 2023 Spouses' Seminar, which was part of the activities of the 42nd convocation ceremonies of Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary (CACTS), Ile Ife, Osun State held for the graduands and their spouses on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the Seminary auditorium.

Speaking on the topic "Ideal Ministers' Marriage and Home", the cleric stated that "you can be a man of God or woman of God and be a terrible husband/wife. You need to know how," adding that life does not give anyone what they deserve, rather one must take what is needed.

The marriage counsellor who boasted of 15years of happy home explained that marriage is twenty-five percent spiritual and seventy-five percent responsibility, telling the graduands that whatever they make out of their wives is what they will become. 

Telling his audience that the two official blueprint for marriage is "if Christ were to marry" and "if Satan were to marry", he highlighted that the weapons of Satan are egoism, culture, traditions, philosophy, lies and deception which all end in a bitter home experience.

He added that Jesus however, came with the gospel, truth, power of the Holy Spirit, the church, and kingdom principles, which all lead to a better home experience.

Relating marriage to a four-wheel car tire, Pastor Unction who is also the Christ Apostolic Church National Teenagers Coordinator, shared how marriage works as, the will of God, love, and the woman-all round responsibility.

He also noted the couples' position in marriage as God's standard, abusive position, most abusive position, Satan's lordship and reviewed position, adding that these positions will determine the communication, relationship, finance, and sexuality in marriage.

"If you are able to sit with your spouse without fight, sex and caressing, it tells the level of unity in your home," Pastor Unction Timothy concluded.
