YOUTH CORNER: How Pastors can enjoy youths in the church (Part 1)

“Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants, And our daughters as corner pillars fashioned as for a palace” (Psalms 144:12)

One of the best gifts of God to Christians is fellowship. It serves as source of strength through complementarity. There is hardly no local church that God has not blessed with children, youths and adults, but the ability to manage these people often determines their continual stay in the Church. While God has blessed the local church, as mentioned, with children, youths and adults, the focus here shall be on the interpersonal relationship between Pastors and youths.

While children can be easily controlled, even against their will, it takes an extra effort to control youths, especially in this 21st century.

There is undoubtedly a huge difference between adults and youths. This is often due to the fact that many of the youths are still in their formative stages of life. Their thinking, ideology, and perspectives to life are different from that of the adults. Yes, these are set of people who are, most times, genuine and innocent. These, oftentimes, want to express themselves and explore all the opportunities around them. Most of them are just beginning to discover themselves and will be willing to do anything afforded them to explore the whole world of discovery around them.

Youths are lovely to work with if well understood and well managed. Many Pastors today don’t enjoy the blessings God has deposited in the youths He has given them or brought into their ministries.  Nonetheless, there are several ways pastors can enjoy youths in their churches. We shall continue from here next week.
