Following the recent events of protests and erupting violence in some major parts of the country, the decentralized 2024 International Youth Conference and Thanksgiving Celebrations of Christ Apostolic Church Youth Fellowship (CACYOF) for Medaiyese and Orekoya conference centers have been postponed.
The locations of these conferences are marred by the unfortunate ongoing event in the nation. Medaiyese region comprises Abuja, Kaduna and Niger states, while Orekoya region comprises Benue, Nassarawa and Plateau states.
In different releases signed by the respective coordinators of the affected regions, the Christ Apostolic youths are enjoined to remain calm and prayerful as new date for the conference centers will be announced soon.
According to the Medaiyese Regional Coordinator, Pastor Paul Adegbola, "The happenings across the nation and, most especially within Abuja, Kaduna, and Niger is sad and unfortunate. We, however, have little control over these happenings, and it is unfortunate it is clashing with our Regional Youth conference scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The security and safety of our youths is of paramount importance to us, and we will do everything possible within our powers to ensure this is guaranteed."
"We are coordinating with the National leadership of the Youth Department to find a suitable date, and this we shall communicate within the next 24 hours. The time and venue will remain the same, and we assure you that the event's content and structure will be unaffected by this change," the release said.
"We believe this adjustment will allow us to better have an impactful experience and provide an enhanced conference experience. Let us keep the momentum high. Let's not drop the ball, and we have to keep the spirits high as we trust God to have one of the best conferences ever. Even as we trust God for peace in our nation. Let's keep praying and doing our part as we prepare for this year's National Conference."
In a similar event, the Orekoya Regional Youth Coordinator, Pastor Isreal A.A. Isaac, assured that new dates for the conference will be communicated soon.
When contacted, the CAC Director of Youth Affairs, Pastor Samson O. Gbuyiro, confirmed the reports as true, stating that with firm trust in God, everything is under control.
The Director encouraged the youths to remain unmoved, rather to see the positive side of the development as the God of our fathers never fail.
