All shades of harmonies as CAC Somolu DCC Headquarters celebrates 58th Annual Choir Festival

Christ Apostolic Church, Somolu Districts’ Coordinating Council (DCC) Headquarters, Lagos reverberated with joyful melodies on Sunday as the 58th annual choir festival, themed "Faithful Father," unfolded in a vibrant display of musical artistry.

The festival showcased an impressive lineup of musical performances, featuring traditional and classical gospel songs. Highlights included "Olorun to layo" and "Gbori soke," both written by renowned composer Ayo Oluranti, as well as "Oyin ni Jesu" and "Oluwa salabo mi," penned by Elder Bidemi Oyesanya (SAN), the Music Director of CAC Nigeria & Overseas. The audience was also treated to "Ore mi se pelepele," composed by the legendary Ebenezer Obey and beautifully arranged by Seun Owoaje, alongside other uplifting pieces like "Heralds of Christ."

"Oyin ni Jesu," written by Bidemi Oyesanya, is a heartfelt gospel song that celebrates the sweetness and joy found in a relationship with Jesus. The title translates to "Jesus is Sweet," emphasizing the deep spiritual fulfillment and comfort believers experience through faith. Its lyrics reflect themes of love, gratitude, and devotion, resonating deeply with listeners and encouraging them to embrace the transformative power of faith in their lives. Overall, it serves as a powerful reminder of the joy that comes from a personal connection with Jesus.

"Gbori Soke," written by Ayo Oluranti, is a captivating musical rendition of Psalm 24, celebrating the might and majesty of God. The song beautifully captures the themes of the psalm, which emphasizes God as the King of Glory and His sovereignty over all creation. With its melodious arrangement and uplifting rhythm, "Gbori Soke" invites listeners to acknowledge God's power and presence in their lives. The lyrics inspire a sense of reverence and awe, encouraging worshippers to lift their voices in praise.

The DCC Superintendent and Akinyele Regional Secretary, Pastor E.O.O. Oyedeji, delivered an inspiring message drawn from Isaiah 54:17, emphasizing the profound benefits of having God as a Father.

In his address, Pastor Oyedeji articulated the reassurance and strength that faith in God provides, calling on attendees to deepen their relationship with the Divine.

The Choirmaster, Elder Emmanuel Olagoke in his appreciation speech acknowledged God and key figures and groups that have contributed to the choir’s success.

Elder Olagoke began by thanking God for the blessings that have allowed the choir to flourish over the years. He expressed deep appreciation for the Somolu DCC Superintendent, Pastor E.O.O. Oyedeji, whose leadership and support have been instrumental in guiding the choir.

He extended heartfelt thanks to the choir supervisor, Pastor A.Z. Osinbajo and acknowledged the presence of other choirs and choir masters, recognizing their collaborative spirit and dedication to the art of choral music. The choir executives and members were praised for their hard work and commitment, which were vital to the festival's success.

Elder Olagoke also took a moment to honor the choir patrons and patronesses, along with the advisers, for their unwavering support and guidance. Their contributions, he noted, have helped shape the choir's mission and vision.

The festival was graced by dignitaries including Pastor E.O.O. Oyedeji and his wife, Evangelist (Mrs.) Folayemi Oyedeji; curate, Pastor Tuned Ogundiya; English Assembly Pastor, Pastor E.O. Olaniyi; and church secretary and choir supervisor, Pastor A.Z. Osinbajo. The presence of Pastor S.A. Ayanga (rtd), immediate past choirmaster, Pastor Oluseye Oyelade, associate pastor, Pastor J.T. Ilori, and Akinyele Region Choir Secretary, Elder Jerry Awofodun added to the event's significance. Notably, Mr. Gbenga Ilori, the choir master of CAC Adekitan, was also in attendance, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the festival.
