Pastor John Dada Obafemi, the fifth President of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas is dead.
According to Pastor S I. Obafemi, son of the deceased, the sad event took place around 7:00 am on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
The President of CAC Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele who also confirmed the incident, has sent a delegation of CAC Leaders, led by the General Superintendent, Pastor Emmanuel Olatoro Odejobi to pay condolence visit to the family.
Pastor Obafemi served as the 5th President of Christ Apostolic Church from 1993 to 1997 and was succeeded by the late Pastor E.H.L. Olusheye, the 6th President.
Pastor Obafemi, was the oldest ordained pastor in CAC until his passing. He was 110 years old.
Pastor Idowu Obafemi revealed that the remains of the late CAC President has been moved to a mortuary in Ilorin, in readiness to fulfill the last wish of the late icon, to be buried in his home town, where his late wife was also buried.
Pastor Obafemi added that the family would formally inform the authorities of CAC who will later decide on when the deceased would be buried.
The late Pastor J. D. Obafemi hailed from Isare-Opin, in Kwara State.
The condolence delegation constituted by the President, Pastor S. O. Oladele was made up of the General Superintendent, Pastor Emmanuel O. Odejobi, the Missions Director, Pastor C. S. Fasuyi, Akilling Regional Superintendent, Pastor E. A. Olusoko and the Pearce Regional Superintendent, Pastor S. O. Aluko. They met Pastor S. I. Obafemi and other family members at Baba Obafemi's residence in Lagos.
Pastor S. I. Obafemi responding to the Presidential delegates' message to the family, expressed the gratitude of the family for the authority's prompt visit. The General Superintendent had earlier delivered the message of the President and he told the family members especially the immediate children of Papa J. D. Obafemi to emulate the Christ-like life of their father so as not to become irritative to God and mankind.
After the short homily, Pastor C. S. Fasuyi, the Missions Director prayed for the family and the grace was said by the General Superintendent, Pastor Odejobi.
