Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Ibukun, Yaba Districts' Coordinating Council (DCC), Lagos hosted its highly anticipated 2024 Choir Feast Dinner and Appreciation Award Day on Saturday, January 4, 2025, celebrating a year of exceptional dedication, hard work, and excellence in musical service.
The event began with heartfelt remarks from the choir master, Elder Sesan Taiwo, who expressed his profound gratitude to the choristers for their steadfast commitment and excellence in service. He encouraged them to continue striving for greater heights in the coming year, emphasizing the importance of using their music to glorify God.
While absent from the event, the Superintendent of CAC Yaba, Pastor S.E.A. Oludare, was warmly acknowledged by Elder Taiwo for his continuous leadership and spiritual guidance, which have been instrumental in inspiring and supporting the choir's musical journey.
Elder Taiwo also took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the patrons and patronesses of the choir for their steadfast support and guidance over the years. He further expressed his sincere appreciation to the event's sponsor, Professor (Barr.) Gbade Akinrinmade, for his generous contribution to making the event a success.
Prof. (Barr.) Akinringbade while speaking, appreciated the choir for upholding the high standard the CAC Yaba is known for, and for being diligent in their service to God. He encouraged them to not relent but strive to be better.
The M.C of the event, Evang. Elisha Igbokwe displayed a show of mastery of the art. The event featured fun games, which kept the atmosphere lively and entertaining, followed by the much-anticipated award presentation ceremony. The awards aimed to honor the outstanding contributions and achievements of the choir members in various categories, including musical performance and behavior.
Some of the award categories included: Overall Best Chorister, Best Performing Male and Female Choristers, Best Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass Singers, Best Performing Officer, Best Behaved Chorister, Most Punctual Chorister, Best in Attendance, Best Chorister in Music, Best Dressed Chorister, Most Outstanding Chorister, Most Improved Chorister Male and Female, Most Likeable Chorister, Most Dedicated Chorister, Best Part of the Year (won by the Tenor Singers)
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of long service awards to distinguished choristers who have demonstrated an enduring commitment to the choir. Maestro Seun Owoaje, Elder Sesan Taiwo, and a few others received the long service awards, having dedicated 35 years or more of service to the choir. Additionally, the Choir Master Emeritus, Elder S.K.O. Annan, was also presented with a long service award, recognizing his decades of tireless service and leadership.
The event’s organizing committee chairman, Mr. Lekan Oluyelu thanked his team for their dedication and hard work in making the event a success. He also expressed his gratitude to the pastorate, family, and friends of the choir for gracing the event.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Associate Pastor and a choir patron, Pastor Sola Ajidagba; the Curate of CAC Yaba, Pastor E. Oluokun; English Assembly Pastor, Pastor Abraham Akinsokeji; Minister in Charge of the Teens Church, Evangelist Adeolowo; a choir patroness, Deaconess Idowu Adebayo; Assistant church secretary, Elder Samuel Isaiah; Elder Kayode Onasanya; Elder Seye Soneye; Akilling Regional Choirmaster, Pastor Tosin Akinpelu; Treasurer for CAC Akinyele Regional Choir, Mr Gbenga Ilori; Elder & Mrs. Bejide; Mr Segun Shoyinka , among many others.
