The President of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has urged Christians to imbibe lessons from the life of the Bible character, David.

In his sermon at All Saints Chapel, Ibadan, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, titled "The Plain Duty of Life," Pastor Oladele made it explicit that God has given us life to fulfill God's purpose and God's will.

Taking his text from Acts 13:36-39, he emphasized that David served his generation by doing the will of God and living a life of service and impact.

"David served as a shepherd boy, who took care of his father's sheep. He was responsible for the proper upkeep of the animals and ensured they were protected from external attack. His work also entailed provision of animal milk and beef nutrition for those who would have need of them."

Pastor Oladele pointed out that as Christians in the world today, we should take care of those who are in need of nutrition, be it spiritually, emotionally, physically, mentally, and other great areas.

Highlighting the roles David played from his childhood, the president said, "David was a soldier, even at a tender age, he put to silence the threat of Goliath. He also fought and won several battles."

"As God's children, we are soldiers of Christ and should function in that capacity." He added.

Pastor Oladele also pinpointed David's music ministry, saying, "David served as instrumentalist to King Saul - he played the violin for the king and whenever he played, the distressing spirit upon King Saul departed."

Pastor Oladele noted that there are distressed people around and that Christians can play their God-given violin, thereby easing the stress of those around them and helping them receive comfort from the Lord.

David served as king of Israel. As king, he led the nation of Israel in the service and worship of the Most High God.

He further urged God's children to engage in doing good in their various capacities and spheres of influence, adding that Christians are called to serve.

According to him, "the plain duty of life is service - service to God and to our generation."
