It was a well deserving commendation service for late and former External Auditor of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Moses Olutunji Malomo (FCA, ACTI), Sunday March 2, 2025 at CAC Oke-Ibukun, Adekitan District Headquarters, Lagos.

The service organized by the church had in attendance the Superintendent of CAC Ebute-Metta DCC, Pastor Gbenga Adelusi; District Superintendent, CAC Adekitan, Pastor J. Ola Oyepetun; Director of Music, CAC Nigeria & Overseas, Elder Bidemi Oyesanya (S.A.N); a very close friend of the deceased, Pastor Biodun Tawede; Pastor Ibukun Odunaya; and Curate, CAC Adekitan District Headquarters, Pastor C.D. Revelations.

Also in attendance were elders from CAC Ebute-Metta DCC Headquarters, Elder Wale Odunaya, Elder Olagunju, and Elder Faronbi, and many others.

The Ebute-Metta DCC Superintendent, Pastor Gbenga Adelusi in his sermon titled 'We Are Aliens and Pilgrims on Earth', emphasized that believers are merely travelers passing through this world, with their true home in heaven. Referencing 1 Chronicles 29:15, he highlighted that life on earth is fleeting: “For we are aliens and before You… our days on earth are as a shadow and without hope.”

Echoing Jim Reeves' song 'This World Is Not My Home', the Clergy stressed the idea that Christians should not be too attached to worldly possessions and pleasures.

He warned against the tendency to embrace worldly cultures, reminding the congregation that believers have a different identity: "Our culture is different from that of the world of sin and unbelief. Our language, our disposition—everything should reflect our heavenly citizenship.”

Speaking further, Pastor Adelusi explained why Christians are called aliens and pilgrims, citing Philippians 3:20: “Our citizenship is in heaven.” He assured the congregation that Jesus has prepared a better place for them, quoting John 14:2-3: “In my Father's house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.” Unlike earthly riches, which people try to keep to themselves, Jesus' invitation to heaven is open to all who accept Him. He challenged the audience, asking, “Are you ready for the second coming of Christ?” and warned against focusing too much on the temporary things of this world. Instead, he urged believers to “set your affections on things above, not on things in this world” (Colossians 3:2).

Finally, he provided practical guidance for living as pilgrims on earth. He urged the congregation to abstain from worldly desires, referencing 1 Peter 2:11: “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.” He also encouraged them to prioritize eternal treasures over earthly wealth, quoting Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:20: “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” Conclusively, he emphasized the urgency of salvation: “Are you in Christ or just in church? Today is your day of salvation—tomorrow may be too late.” He reminded everyone that death is inevitable, and what matters most is where one will spend eternity.

The Choir delivered beautiful renditions which had infusions of the Late Pastor Malomo’s favorite songs ‘Gbogbo igi lo n mi’ra fun Baba’ and ‘Ki ‘nsa maa dupe lo to.’

The church Secretary, CAC Adekitan District Headquarters, Elder T.S. Sosan had earlier read a biography of the Late Pastor which reflects his great achievements as a child of God, a professional, and a family man. In his local assembly, he served as the leader of CACMA, grand patron of the choir and Ireti-Ogo Society until his death. Also, he served at the district and zonal levels.

He was appointed External Auditor of CAC Nigeria & Overseas from 2010 - 2019, a position he effectively held without conflict. Additionally, he served as the Treasurer of Lagos DCC Pastor's Welfare Saving Scheme; and Member of CAC Worldwide Staff Savings Scheme until 30th June, 2019.

Professionally, Late Pastor Malomo began his career in 1961 as a primary school teacher, rising to the position of headmaster within nine years before transitioning into accounting by joining Messrs. Akintola Williams & Co. (Chartered Accountants) as an Audit Clerk. After advancing through various reputable organizations, he later joined Pharco Nigeria Limited where he served for 18 years in various capacities, eventually rising to the position of Finance Manager. Recognizing his exceptional performance, he was seconded to Pharco Laboratories Nigeria Limited as Finance Director, a position he held until his voluntary retirement in 1993.

He actively served the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in various capacities such as an 'Assessor, Reviewer, and Chief Examiner'. He also co-authored the first ICAN Study Pack in Management Accounting. Also, he served ICAN Amuwo & District Society as a Financial Secretary, Vice-Chairman, and Chairman (two tenures).

Earlier in the program, a very close friend of the deceased, Pastor Biodun Tawede testified to the gracious nature of the Late Pastor M.O. Malomo. He referred to him as a very liberal man, a philanthropist, and a servant-leader who was dedicated to God till his last breath. Also, a representative of I.C.A.N. Amuwo & District Society, Mr. Ajileye Johnson in his testimony said the Late Pastor Malomo was made the chairman of the association because of his attributes. He referred to him as 'an iconic professional whose commitment to whatever he did was incomparable".
