The burial programme for the former external auditor of Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria & Overseas, late Pastor Moses Olutunji Malomo, was held on Thursday, March 6, and Friday, March 7, 2025. The burial rites commenced with a Christian wake on Thursday, followed by a home service and interment the next day.
The solemn events concluded with an outing and thanksgiving service at CAC Essien Regional Headquarters, Isale-Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Essien Regional Superintendent, Pastor I.O. Eyebiokin, delivered a message titled 'Will You Be Carried or Be Buried?', drawing inspiration from Luke 16:19-31. He emphasized the certainty of death, regardless of one’s status or beliefs. He contrasted the fates of Lazarus, who was carried by angels, and the wealthy man, who was simply buried.
Pastor Eyebiokin posed a thought-provoking question: “Are you recognized by name in heaven?” He explained that while the rich man was nameless in the biblical account, Lazarus was known by name. The difference between being carried and being buried, he noted, lies in the destination; those carried are taken to a place of rest, while those buried find themselves in affliction.
He urged the congregation to seek God while He is near, warning that a life not aligned with God’s will leads to a place of unanswered prayers. He further emphasized the importance of evangelism and ensuring that family members are guided towards salvation, citing Joshua’s declaration, “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.” He concluded by stating that a child of God does not die but sleeps, and that faith should rest in God rather than wealth, power, or beauty.
Earlier that day, at the home service held at the residence of the deceased, CAC Adekitan District Superintendent, Pastor J.O. Oyepetu, admonished the attendees with a sermon titled 'Teach Us to Number Our Days,' emphasizing the need for spiritual preparedness.
At the Christian wake held the previous day, heartfelt testimonies were shared about Pastor Malomo’s life and impact. His first child, Shina Malomo, recounted how his late father ensured love and unity within the family, taught him mathematics, and instilled a strong commitment to church attendance. Seyi Malomo, a nephew and former state house chaplain, Aso Rock, described the late pastor as a man who held family in high esteem, was highly respectful, and known for his generosity. His first daughter-in-law, Oluchi Malomo, shared how late Pastor M.O. Malomo welcomed her into the family despite tribal differences and even fasted throughout her last pregnancy, highlighting their close bond.
A member of CAC Oke Alafia 3, a church late Pastor M.O. Malomo planted, described him as spirit-filled and compassionate, always prioritizing the welfare of others. Also, a neighbor testified that Pastor Malomo installed a borehole for community use, demonstrating his commitment to service.
CAC Finance Director, Pastor J.F. Omitinde, recalled meeting Pastor Malomo at a CAC General Council meeting. He praised his approach to financial matters, noting that instead of condemnation, he offered constructive insights to improve financial reporting for the mission, which eventually led to his appointment as an external auditor. Speaking further, he said Pastor Malomo played a crucial role in training the finance department staff of CAC.
The overwhelming turnout of members from CAC Adekitan District was a testament to Pastor Malomo’s enduring legacy. Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including the Essien Regional Superintendent, Pastor I.O. Eyebiokin; Superintendent of Lafenwa DCC, Pastor I.K. Oluwatusi; Superintendent of CAC Adekitan District, Pastor J.O. Oyepetu; Superintendent of Ita Oshin District, Pastor E.S. Kolawale; Curate, CAC Adekitan District, Pastor C.D.
